Les Miserables Movie Musical (fuck the skeptics)

So here’s the dealio. Les Miserables (greatest musical ever written in the history of man kind, longest internationally running musical ever, translated into 21 DIFFERENT languages) anyway I think we get the picture that Les Miserables can be summarized in a simple equation.

LES MISERABLES = GOD.

Simple enough? the point? Cameron Mackintosh, Working Title, and Universal Pictures are in pre-production to make a movie musical adaption of the film which is set to release sometime late 2012 or early 2013 (which will probably soon be adjusted to late 2013). All the old timers who love the musical are thinking, here we go another blockbuster bust because the casting always ends up being the highly popular “Zach Efron” or “Nick Jonas” . What can I say? they are exactly right. I mean the 1998 film featuring Liam Neeson and Uma Thurman wasn’t necessarily bad but didn’t fair to well in the box office. But no no no, this is different rumors of the cast for the Les Miserables film are promising…

Shall we?

Is that a familiar face? no probably not. Your thinking who the f*** is he gonna play? Sailor #2. How about the Director! Tom Hooper, probably not a familiar name but how about a familiar movie in which he directed: “The King’s Speech” (2010) which won the Academy Award for best Film. He also one ‘Best Achievement for Directing’ with the same film. With this man in charge what really can go wrong. Both Film’s are of the “older era” and “The King’s Speech” was merely brilliant. And you might be surprised to see he might be working with a few of the same actors on his next film…

In many ways Jean Valjean can be compared to a wolverine… fierce , manly, hairy? A stretch? maybe. but Hugh Jackman who is most commonly known for his role in X-Men has CONFIRMED being Jean Valjean is the Upcoming Les Miserables film. Already a big actor who will make the film a piece of crap? wrong again? Hugh Jackman has one: hosted the tony’s three times, two: won a tony!, and three: already been in a movie musical in his career. (1999 film of “Oklahoma!”). We’ve heard him sing before, and although he is no Colm Wilkinson (who is probably a little to older at this point for the role :((((((((   ) he in my wonderful opinion may just suit the role.

“Who is this man” you ask? Phillip Quast the greatest Inspector Javert EVER. so your thinking ; yay! they picked him!! no. but the role is up for grabs still, the two rumored names include Paul Bettany ( who I assume is most known for JARVIS the robot’s voice in Iron Man 2) and Russel Crowe (who we all know) who I would prefer? I don’t know. Maybe Paul Bettany is what all the fans are looking for, someone with talent who isn’t necessarily a big name… but I don’t know. I just don’t.

These next two maybe the one’s that excite me the most. I didn’t mention Geoffrey Rush when I talked about Javert??? what is going on? How about Thenardier played by Geoffrey Rush alongside the wonderful Bonaham Carter as his Madame. Geoffrey Rush has already had experience with Les Miserables ( he was Inspector Javert in the 1998 film) and he has already worked with director Tom Hooper in “The King’s Speech”. As for his singing I’m not all the knowledgable, what I do know that the Part of Thenardier doesn’t necessarily require great singing… just a smart actor. As for Madame, Bonaham Carter is simply a wonderful choice… just watch this link… she is familiar. just do Tyler Merritt a favor and leave Johnny Depp out of this film.

Few more roles to be considered ( i’ll write about sometime soon)

Emma Watson- Cossette or Eponine  (could see as a Eponine not Cossette)

Anne Hathaway - Cossette (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlZ9kAz9Wuc)

I would just like to discuss how much the bow-tie is in. You see, although a lot of people tend to veer towards the ties, bow-ties are just much more classier and fly. But if you do choose a tie go with a skinny one because they look more hip and modern. Cool people like Matthew Broderick , and Mayor Pradel (of Naperville) wear bow-ties, so i suggest you invest in one to :) the end.
